Tycosian Almanac About
this page: This page was originally designed to describe the settings for
my stories, though I feel the page could still be useful for describing
the general landscape of my dragons homeworld. Terraset: was the name of the continent or possibly the world/planet upon
which the dragons and other races lived. Tycosa: Tycosa possibly meaning peace/tranquility
or paradise, was a valley surrounded by mountains it was usually covered
by a thin hazy cloud cover, the clouds often provided cool temperatures
and a relaxing atmosphere, although usually cloudy the sun moon and
stars where often still visible in the night sky. The valley had forests,
rivers, waterfalls, a lakes, vast plains, and even a small city around
a crumbling ruin. The Tycosian valley was home to an assortment of
many different races, and was once the main refuge for two clans of
dragons known as the Calako clan (Fire) and Tyfone Clan. (wind) Arconia: Arconia short for Araconis
was the name given to the land outside the Tycosian valley it was
an expanding kingdom consisting mostly of humans and some "mages"
the peopl of this land were always looking for new lands to conquer
and claim. The general landscap of this region was very different
from the fertile valley, this was a mountainous landscape, the western
regions ended at an explored expanse of ocean, the eastern regions
of arconia ended at another large mountain range behind which were
other lands unkown/irelevant to the arconians. Lands and Places of Tycosa: Mt. Tyfone: On the western edge of the valley was the great Mountain of Tyfone
named for the fact that the winds were extremely dangerous in this
area. The area around Mt Tyfone created a barrier for the wind currents
blowing towards it. Dispite the wind currents around the mountain,
dragons once lived near the base of the mountain inside a collection
of hollow crevices.
The Terresa river: The largest river of Tycosa fed by the great falls it's source
comes from near Mt. Calakos. The Sycala Mt.s: All the Mountains surrounding the valley of Tycosa are called
the Sycala Mountains They were windy and very treacherous they Provided
a natural defense from invaders outside of the Tycosian valley. The
only flaw was a cave which tunneled from the base of one of the mountains
leading to the valley. The Rykanu Plains: The Valley was for the most part forest but outside the
forest was mostly grasslands that is where the tower and city were
located. The Kelona lake: The Water from the mountains and rivers of the forest all met
near the grasslands and formed a very large lake which was the major
water source of the valley. The City of Cycanthra:
The city of Cycanthra was a large city surrounding a ruined tower.
It was deserted after a battle centuries ago, the people of cycanthra
eventually moved and built small villages concealed in the safety
of the forest. The Grand Tower: Once the heart of Tycosa, in the center of the grasslands south
of Kelona lake was a large structure similar to that of a small modern
skyscraper. It was built of stone (obvisouly) and consisted of six
floors the structor was surrounded by an outer wall which separated
the tower from the city. Within the outer wall was a courtyard, a
garden and stream cut through the side and entered a small pond before
exiting under the outer wall. The tower is where the grand council
(the rulers) once ruled the valley aeons ago. Long after it was abandoned
the dragon Korageth took up residence in the crumbling remains. The Dragon's: Dragon's were once one of the abundant species on that world.
Unfortunatly they migrated away from the Tycosa/Arconia region for
reasons unknown even the other dragons. Nobody knew were they went
and only few clans and wandering lone dragons remained. The dragon's
of Terraset came in many color's, types, and personailities, some
wise and noble, others power hungry brutes. For more information on
the dragons of Terraset read about the Tycosian dragons. |
